Why do I still need five apps to charge in Europe?

Just did 1,800 km through four countries and used six apps plus one RFID card I'd forgotten I had. Plug & Charge worked at exactly one operator. My home wallbox tariff is simple, but on the road I'm juggling pre-auth holds, per-minute fees in France and hourly kWh pricing in Germany. Has anyone found a roaming setup that genuinely works across borders, or is the answer to pick one big network and accept the detours? Cur
