Kias kleinstes Elektromodell kombiniert eine 42,2-kWh-Batterie mit einem 108-kW-Frontmotor. Die WLTP-Reichweite beträgt 317 km, das DC-Laden erreicht bis zu 120 kW, das AC-Laden liegt bei 11 kW, die Höchstgeschwindigkeit bei 161 km/h. Die Batterie ist die Einstiegsvariante der deutschen Modellpalette, unterhalb der 61-kWh-Version. Die Ladehardware entspricht der des größeren 61-kWh-Modells. Mit 4.060 mm Länge bietet die Karosserie fünf Sitze und einen 362-Liter-Kofferraum. Die Ausstattungslinien reichen von Light über Air bis Earth, und das 42,2-kWh-Modell wird ab Light angeboten.
Der EV2 mit 42,2-kWh-Batterie ist das Einstiegsmodell der Baureihe.
