Der MGS5 Emotion als Einstiegsversion nutzt die Batterie mit 49 kWh. Ein heckmontierter Motor leistet 125 kW und 170 PS. Der kombinierte WLTP-Verbrauch liegt bei rund 17 kWh/100 km.
