Depot charging grid upgrades blowing up budgets?

We're speccing our first electric tractor units and the truck price is actually less scary than the depot upgrade. Our local utility quoted us for a new transformer and site work. Has anyone on here managed to avoid expensive grid upgrades by going with battery storage or smart load management? Or staggered charging schedules? We're looking at maybe 10 trucks to start so the peak demand is significant. Curious
