EV tyre wear: is it really that bad?

Just had to replace the front tyres on my Model Y after only 18k miles. The tyre shop said it's typical for EVs because of the weight and instant torque. I do drive fairly spiritedly, but that still seems early. I'm now looking at EV-specific tyres, which cost a fortune. Are they worth it, or is it just marketing? Also, anyone found a way to make tyres last longer without ruining the driving
