Been tracking my NMC pack for two years now, and after 45,000 miles with frequent DC fast charging, I’m at about 8% degradation. My buddy’s LFP with similar miles and charging habits is barely showing 3%. Is that typical? I keep hearing LFP has better cycle life, but the tradeoff in cold weather performance and usable capacity is real. For those who have owned both chemistries, how did your pack health numbers actually compare over time? Also, anyone willing to share their battery health data from service mode or an OBD dongle? Curious if the early LFP packs are aging as well as the lab tests suggested, or if the BMS hiding degradation is just making it look better than it is.
LFP vs NMC: real-world degradation data?
