Cross-border roaming still feels like a lottery

Just did 1,400 km through four countries and ended up with six apps, two RFID cards and a wallet full of pre-authorisation holds. Some operators charge per kWh, others per minute after a grace period, and one billed me a session fee on top. The worst part was a 150 kW charger that held a 50 euro block for nine days. I am not against paying, I just want one card and one clear price before I plug in. How do you handle this? Do you keep a dedicated roaming tag, or do you plan routes around a single network and accept the detours?
