First winter with my EV - what surprised you?

Picked up my first EV in March, so this is my first proper cold season with it. The range drop on short school-run trips is bigger than I expected, though preconditioning while still plugged in helps a lot. I'm also weighing up whether winter tyres are worth it here or if all-seasons will do for a few bad weeks. What caught you out in your first winter?
