Winter tyre costs: higher than my old petrol car?

Just priced up a set of winter tyres for my EV and nearly fell off my chair. They're noticeably pricier than the equivalent set for my previous petrol hatch, and the wear rate seems quicker too thanks to the extra weight and instant torque. I knew servicing would be cheaper, but this seasonal tyre hit is eating into my running cost savings. Is this just the premium for the correct load rating, or am I being taken for a ride? Curious how everyone else justifies the outlay.
