The Alpine A290 is an electric hot hatch based on the Renault 5 E-Tech, tuned by Alpine for sharper driving dynamics. The GT version produces 130 kW (180 PS) at the front axle and uses a 52 kWh battery. Combined WLTP range is around 380 km.

The car measures around 3,990 mm and seats five, with a boot suited to everyday use. It is offered in GT, GT Premium, GT Performance and GTS trims, and DC fast charging is supported. The A290 is Alpine's entry model below the larger A390.
