The store and the local partner
Firefly announced the opening on Weibo on Monday. The showroom carries vehicles, design and lifestyle items, and the company describes it as its first standalone store worldwide built to run long-term with the full Firefly brand identity. One car on display was co-created with Thai illustrator Tent Katchakul.
Sales run through Thonburi BlueSky, a subsidiary of Thonburi Group acting as general distributor. Firefly introduced the brand in Bangkok on 5 March and launched the right-hand-drive car at the 47th Bangkok International Motor Show on 24 March. Thailand was the second right-hand-drive market after Singapore.
What changed on the car
Not much is public. Firefly said the updated model offers enhanced smart features and did not disclose the changes or the new price. The March figure of 799,000 baht ($23,800) remains the only Thai price on record.
In China the pattern looked different. An upgraded Firefly launched on 7 April 2026 with additional equipment at unchanged prices.
Deliveries and what the table shows
September was the brand's best month so far: 7,327 cars, up 26.87% year on year and 25.21% on August, according to CnEVPost's compilation of company reports. From January to September Firefly delivered 48,122 vehicles, 16.02% of everything Nio Inc sold in that period.
Add the 2025 months from that same table and you get 87,536 Fireflies on the road by the end of September. CnEVPost put the 90,000th car at around 16 October, which means roughly 2,460 more were delivered in the first half of October. Across the 18 months since the April 2025 launch, average monthly volume works out at about 4,860 cars.
Firefly began mass production of right-hand-drive cars in November 2025, with the first batch shipped to Singapore.
What a small EV costs to run
Firefly was created in December 2024 to compete with Mini and Smart, both of which already have dealer networks in Europe that took decades to build. Firefly is assembling its own one shopping mall at a time.
Running costs are where a car of this size makes its case. Take a real-world figure of 15 kWh/100 km and a home tariff of €0.25/kWh: that is €3.75 per 100 km. A petrol city car at 5.5 l/100 km and €1.50/l works out at €8.25. The gap is €4.50 per 100 km, or €675 over 15,000 km. Your own tariff will move those numbers, so put them into our charging cost calculator.
Public charging is the variable that decides whether the saving holds. Our supercharger database covers 483 locations across Europe with prices attached, and the cheapest locations page shows where the rate drops below the average. On the operator side, Fastned reported Q3 charging revenue up 47% to €46.3 million, with 65 stations under construction.
No European date in the announcement
Nio unveiled Firefly on 21 December 2024. The first model launched in China on 19 April 2025. Right-hand-drive markets are the stated focus of the overseas push, and the Thai release gives no European launch date or pricing.
Other Chinese makers keep shipping hardware abroad in the meantime. BYD's Tang EV AWD appeared in MIIT filings with 515 kW output, a 250 km/h top speed and 455 kg of payload. Li Auto used its Power Day to present a 5C battery of its own.
Firefly's next concrete step in Thailand is the price of the updated car. The company has not published it.
